Helpful Hints for Updating Bylaws
Standing Rules are designed to compliment an organization’s bylaws. Their purpose is to provide additional procedures and policies which give the organization more detailed direction. Unlike bylaws, which can only be amended by the entire membership, standing rules can be amended or set aside by a simple majority vote of the executive board. The Sample Unit Standing Rules were created as a guideline for units wanting to adopt or amend standing rules.
