MoPTA Board of Managers Position:  Secretary

Years Involved in Board of Managers:  Starting my third year.

What does your position do?:  As the secretary I record all minutes for Executive Committee, Board of Managers meetings, and other special meetings.  

Unit/Council, Region & Years Involved:  Currently I serve on two local units and one council in the Three Trails region. I am the President for Procter Elementary PTA for this year. I have served on the board for Procter Elementary PTA for the past 15 years.  I will serve as the secretary for Lone Jack PTA this year and this will be my third year serving on this board. I am also the 2nd Vice President – Programs for Independence Council PTA and this will be my fifth year serving on this board.

Why are you involved in PTA?:  Children. I want to make a difference for children. I love serving on a team with people who are all working toward a common goal. The PTA Mission statement means so much to me – a powerful voice for all children, a relevant resource for all families and communities, and a strong advocate for the education and well being of every child.

Favorites:

Food/Drink:  I love Tacos. My favorite drink is iced tea.

Season:  Fall

Entertainment (Book, Movie, TV, Band, Music):  I love to read. I read all kinds of books. I have just discovered an app I downloaded to my phone where I can listen to audiobooks while I drive. I love to watch comedies and of course children’s movies. My daughter and I listen to all kinds of music, right now Meghan Trainor is our favorite.

Activities/Hobbies:  Reading and Spending time with my family.

What is a proud accomplishment?:  My daughter. My husband and I adopted her from birth. I so enjoy watching her grow up and develop her personality.

Something interesting you’ve done this year:  Our family got a new dog. Her name is Raquel, she is a 3 year old German Shepard Mix.
